About Snowball Invest
Our mission
We believe every Australian should have access to clear, honest financial education. No jargon, no sales pitch, just the facts you need to make better money decisions.
Snowball Invest is a free platform built for everyday Australians in their 20s, 30s and 40s who want to learn about investing, saving and building wealth. Whether you are just starting out or refining your strategy, we are here to help you understand the fundamentals without the noise.
What we offer
We have built Snowball Invest around four core areas, all delivered through free calculators, plain-English guides and interactive quizzes. No paywalls, no ads cluttering the page, no hidden costs.
- Getting started with investing. The basics of shares, ETFs, managed funds and how to open an investment account, in plain English.
- Saving and budgeting. Building an emergency fund, cutting costs without feeling deprived, and creating a budget that actually works.
- Retirement and FIRE. Superannuation, the FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early), and how the Australian retirement system works.
- Property and debt. Mortgages, home loans, investment property basics and managing debt strategically, with real Australian context.
How we research and review
Your trust matters, so we are transparent about how we create content. We start with primary sources: the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), ASIC's Moneysmart, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA). When we cite figures or rules, we verify them against official data.
Every guide is reviewed for accuracy before it goes live, and we date our content so you know when it was last updated. If tax laws change or new information emerges, we update the article. If we are not certain about something, we say so and point you to the official source.
Not financial advice
Snowball Invest provides general educational information only. We are not licensed to provide personal financial advice and we do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL). Nothing on this site is tailored to your personal circumstances.
Before making any financial decision, especially one that affects your long-term wealth, speak to a licensed financial adviser who can assess your individual situation. You can find one through ASIC's Financial Advisers Register on moneysmart.gov.au. See our full disclaimer for more.
Why you can trust us
- Plain English, always. We avoid jargon, and when we use a technical term we explain it.
- Australian-specific. We reference ATO, ASIC, RBA and ABS data because your tax system, super rules and property market are different from other countries.
- Free tools, no hidden cost. Our calculators and guides are genuinely free, with no sign-up required to use them.
- No product comparisons. We do not rank investment platforms, banks or insurance products. That requires an AFSL, which we do not hold. Instead we teach you how to evaluate options yourself.
- Honest about affiliate links. Some of our book recommendations use Amazon affiliate links, and we disclose that clearly. It never changes what we recommend; we only point to books we genuinely rate.
